MOTORISTS

BRAND IDENTITY | EGD
Brand identity and experiential graphics for Encova Insurance, formerly Motorists Insurance Group.

Motorists Insurance Group is a company that provides automobile, home, business and life insurance products. They pride themselves on fostering a culture and way of thinking that breeds innovation and promotes empowerment, collaboration, and fresh ideas. We partnered with WSA, to develop a brand identity and environmental graphics for their new Innovation Center.

We called the space The Intersection and developed the tagline: people + environment + technology = innovation.

Wanting to focus on the collaboration and innovation aspects, we designed a layered identity that would interact with different surfaces. Inspired by the colors and shapes of the Motorists logo, it fits within the family while standing on its own. The logo comes to life in the break room, where we designed a four-sided centerpiece around a cement column. Transparent pieces of colored plex layer on top of one another to create unique interactions between light and surface within the space. Environmental graphics on the walls create the illusion of movement with zooming, colorful pathways pointing to key features. From wallpaper to glass, the paths cross mediums and intersect one another while moving down corridors and past huddle rooms.

The overall design is dynamic and surprising, inspiring creativity, play, and innovation. The interactions of light with the environmental treatments keep the space exciting and fresh while representing the center's personality.

DISTRICT 3 POLICE STATION

EGD | COMMUNITY WORKSHOP | SCULPTURE
Community input helped guide the design for the experiential graphics and sculptural features at the new District 3 Police Station.
Cincinnati’s District 3 Police station serves the Western side of the City of Cincinnati, covering about 20 square miles. They deliver a variety of services to the 14 communities and 95,000+ residents. For their new zero energy police headquarters, the city wanted to design a public art installation with input from the community.
Three flag poles stand in front of a brown sign reading "Cincinnati Police Department District 3 Station" in white letters. To right, several columns line the walkway leading to the police station beyond.
